DTN COMMENTS:  A light trade has been reported in most areas. Southern 
live deals are marked at $238 to $240, $3 to $5 higher than last week's 
weighted averages. Northern dressed business has been reported sold at 
$375 to $378, $6 to $9 higher than last week's weighted averages.  

Today's slaughter totaled 93,000 head, 9,000 more than last week, but 
23,000 lower than a year ago. Saturday's kill is estimated at 2,000 head, 
bringing the weekly total to 529,000 head, 2,000 less than the prior 
week, and down 70,000 head from 2025. Live cattle futures closed mixed, 
mostly sharply lower, off 257 to up 35, while feeder issues ended the day 
significantly lower, down 425 to 547. Beef cutouts are expected to close 
mixed with light to moderate box movement.
